Rhythm Diaries

Rhythms of Fractals and Collective Movement

Performance Lab - University College London Culture commissioned me to write a piece of music in close collaboration with mathematicians. Originally I envisioned a string quartet but since COVID 19 made it difficult to realise this I took up the challenge to perform it all as a solo percussion performance. It was wonderful to collaborate with Dr Angelika Manhart and Dr David Hewett, two inspiring mathematicians.
Here is Scales - Part 1

Salvador de Bahia - Brazil

In February 2020 I spent 4 weeks immersing myself in the sounds and vibes of Salvador de Bahia, a fascinating melting pot in the North-east of Brazil. In this city you experience various African rhythm traditions coming together. Meet in this short glimpse the master drummers Gabi Guedes and Monika Millet, who bring the Candomble tradition into the 21st century.
